For brokers

The broker questions we do not answer ourselves.

Since we started arranging commercial finance directly, brokers have started asking about going out on their own, aggregation and back office. It is a fair question to bring to us and it is not one we should be answering. Here is where it goes instead, what is actually on the other end, and what our interest in it is.

Starting your own brokerage

Leaving a bank, leaving a brokerage, or writing loans under someone else's arrangement and wondering what it would take to run your own. It is a real question and it is not one this firm answers.

What the question actually is

Levelling up a brokerage you already run

The business exists, it writes loans, and the question has changed. It is no longer how to start; it is why growth has stalled, where the time goes, and which of the things you could fix actually matters.

What the question actually is

Community, partners and tools

The business runs and the gaps are everything around the loans: who to outsource processing to, whose compliance product is worth paying for, and which tools are built for brokers rather than adapted to them.

What the question actually is

The interest, declared

We are not neutral about where this goes.

Broker Sidekick is a separate business in which Nicholas Clunes holds an interest, and he is named on their own site as the technology support on the Start pathway. We are telling you that here rather than leaving you to find it. This site is paid nothing for sending you there, and there are other people who do this work.

A recommendation is worth less when you cannot see what sits behind it, so there it is. What makes it easy to say anyway is that the two offerings do not touch. Broker Sidekick works with mortgage brokers building their own business. This firm arranges commercial finance only and offers no consumer credit at all. If you write residential loans and a client turns up wanting to buy a business or a warehouse, those are two different doors and neither of us is standing in the other one.

If what you actually want is analysis capacity on a commercial deal you are keeping, that is us rather than them. The white-label desk is here, including a straight answer on what it means that we broker deals of our own.
